Location

Iowa State Capitol, 1007 E Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50319 - Legislative Dining Room (Ground floor, room G15)

Parking

There are public lots surrounding the Iowa Capitol Building and a ramp available on Grand Ave. just west of the Capitol.  Please reference the Capitol Complex parking map to ensure that you park in visitor lots.  It will also note accessible parking for persons with disabilities. The closest entrance to the Legislative Dining Room where our breakfast takes place is on the south side.

Attire

Wearing red helps identify us as being with ISU Extension and Outreach. 

  • A red Extension Council shirt is a great option!
  • Bring your Extension Council nametag too!

Prepare for the breakfast

The goal of our legislative breakfast is to share real impact of Extension and Outreach in Iowa and help legislators understand that Extension and Outreach has high public value.  To be efficient in your communication with legislators at the breakfast, here are a few items you can do to prepare ahead of time:

  • Familiarize yourself with your county's impact report.  Copies will be provided to each legislator.
  • Review the information on the legislative breakfast folder.  We will be using this folder as a tool for our talking points.  It will hold the county stakeholder reports for each legislator's district.
  • Read through the 2024 Impact Report (coming soon) for Extension and Outreach to familiarize yourself with some of 2024's accomplishments.
